Betty Crocker has nothing on this DEVIL’S FOOD CAKE! 🤩
Don’t get me wrong – I absolutely lived off of boxed cake mixes as a child. Mom and I had the Cake Doctor cookbook practically memorized. I even got second place in a baking competition with an elevated boxed cake mix recipe. Me and Betty Crocker were tight – and I had a particular affinity for that classic super moist box of Devil’s Food cake. 😋
When developing a Devil’s Food recipe of my own – I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t want it to taste like the boxed cake mix of my youth. Whenever I think of Devil’s Food cake – I get nostalgic by default. So I strove to create a super moist and rich chocolate cake that could satiate my childhood cravings – but without all the additives of a boxed cake mix. The result was an out-of-this-world decedent dessert that had me feeling like I was 10-years-old again – Cake-Doctoring it up with my mom. 🥰
This cake should be incredibly easy to whip up with staples you already have on hand! Top off your cooled cake with my rich chocolate buttercream – and you’ll be in deep decedent chocolate heaven. Betty Crocker wishes she could compare! 😘
